|Murphy wins his 3rd International Masters Vest

North Sligo athlete Eamon Murphy ran in the open autumn cross country trials in Abbottstown on Sunday last. The masters 8k race was a trial to select teams in various age categories  to represent Ireland in the home countries international which will be held in Belfast on Saturday 16th November. Murphy put in a great performances. The 58 year old Sligo based GP was vying for a place on the over 55 age category team, the battling Cliffoney resident covered the 8k race in a fast time of 29 mins 14 secs to finish 3rd and earn his place on the Irish team. This is Murphys 3rd Irish vest, he competed for Ireland in 2021 and 2022 and is now eagerly looking forward to wearing the Irish vest again in Belfast on 16th November.

Mari Johson from Sligo AC won her over 55 category to clinch her place on the Irish team in her age group and Seamus Sommers finished 5th in the over 50 age category to get his spot on the Irish Team. The Irish teams will compete against teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
